Environmental Authorisation Applications

  • Undertaking of applications in terms of National Environmental Management  Act (Act No. 107 of 1998) (“NEMA”), as amended; the National Environmental Management:  Waste Act (Act No. 59 of 2008) (“NEM: WA”); the National Environmental Management: Air Quality Act (Act No. 39 of 2004), as amended (“NEM: AQA”) and the National Water Act (Act no. 36 of 1998); Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2002, as amended by the Mineral and Petroleum Resources Development Act, 2008 (Act No. 49 of 2008) (“MPRDA”);
  • This includes basic assessments, full scoping and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to include Air Emission Licence (AEL), Waste Licence (WL), Water Use Licence, s24G, Mining Right, Mining Permit, Prospecting Right, Exploration Right, Production Right, etc.;
  • Public Participation Processes / stakeholder engagement management;
  • Environmental management plans (EMP) covering both the construction and the operational phases;
  • Auditing of EA conditions and or WL, AEL, EMP, and Water Use Authorisations, etc.

Specialist Impact Assessments

  • Botanical/Plant Impact Assessment - In the field of scientific assessment, biodiversity is evaluated by considering both species richness and relative abundance.
  • Aquatic/Freshwater Impact Assessment - Freshwater impact assessments are conducted to evaluate the potential effects on ecological processes within a riverine environment.
  • Animal Impact Assessment - Monitoring freshwater macroinvertebrates is crucial for maintaining the health of freshwater ecosystems that are essential for both humans and wildlife.
  • Terrestrial Biodiversity Impact Assessment - The systematic and long-term evaluation of pollutant levels in the outdoor air.

Environmental Control Officers

Environmental Control Officer (“ECO”) to ensure that the EA conditions are met. This is accomplished by regular site visits;

Environmental Control Officer (“ECO”) services include monitoring compliance in terms of an EA, Environmental management program, waste licence, air emission licence, water use authorisations, permit conditions, standard operations and procedures, policies and relevant environmental legislation;

Develop check lists, which can be used to verify internal and closure compliance;

The ECO reports that are generated can be submitted if required to relevant competent authorities.
